Patou - An innovative approach to eco-designed packaging

An innovative approach to eco-designed packaging

Our packaging is made from 100% certified, environmentally friendly, recycled and recyclable materials. Our organic cotton product bags are reusable by our customers as part of our “Plastic Free” customer packaging. The Patou hangers are eco-designed from 100% recycled materials consisting of a blend of wood (60%) and recycled polypropylene (40%). From the factory to the atelier to your home, the same unique hanger is used throughout the life of the product. We use shopping bags made from recycled and recyclable materials, all of our labels and tags are composed of recycled polyester, and each of our hangtags is made of recycled paper as well.

When it comes time to package, we use recycled kraft cushion paper, organic ribbon gift-wrapping and responsible jewellery boxes made without glue and in recycled paper (a blend of paper and scrap leather) for the PATOU e-shop. Our shipping boxes are made with 100% recycled cardboard (FSC label) and we use just one box per product to avoid double packaging. All of our storage and packaging bags and covers are made of bio-plastic from sugar cane. In addition, we offset our CO2 emissions from our e-commerce shipments with the GoGreen DHL program.

Patou - Transparency and traceability

Transparency and traceability

The Patou collection is produced responsibility through near-sourcing in an effort to reduce our environmental footprint. We would like to invite you to get to know each product and the Patou hands behind it by using our QR codes. At any moment, you can scan the code and follow us to our website where you can get to know the life of each piece, from the original sketch designed by Guillaume Henry, to the atelier manufacturing the outfit, including a video with some of our factory workers across Europe. And we can trace the manufactured product lot, just like in the agri-food industry. In addition, the Patou ready-to-wear collection is mainly made in Europe (except for some special expertise such as jewellery made in Bali). We furthermore support and promote exemplary CSR initiatives within the factories and industrial partners with whom we work. For example, one of our knit manufacturers contributes to social integration through the employment of a community of women in Bosnia and Herzegovina that simultaneously protects their ancestral craft of hand knitting.

The beautiful garments that make up the Patou collection are constructed from eco-friendly materials, including organic cotton and recycled polyester and wool, representing half of the ready-to-wear collection. Our T-shirts and polos are made of 100 % organic cotton that is grown using natural fertilizers and a minimum of water. Our denim jeans are also 100% organic cotton, consisting of recycled cotton fibres from textile garment scraps. We use organic cotton poplin. We do not use any fur in our collections, and we only use upcycled leather coming from dead stocks to produce our Patou bag. Some of our jackets, trousers and coats are made from recycled wool that is combined with other natural and organic fibres. We conceive and produce optimized, accurate collections that limit the use of unnecessary materials and prototypes. More than 90% of the samples we develop are then produced. We also maintain a permanent range of “Essentials” from year to year, which represents 15% of the entire collection. In an effort to regulate our waste, we use selective sorting.

The Patou space is eco-designed with precision, friendliness and responsibility, to stimulate team creativity and provide an inspired customer experience. Furthermore, we use low energy impact lighting, Tridonic Led solutions with low energy consumption and low power lighting at 5 Watt/ m2. Our Patou stationery is made of 100% recycled and recyclable paper (a mix of recycled paper fibres and scrap leather). For our deliveries in Paris, we prioritize bicycle couriers. We also extend our eco-design to our sales spaces, using shop furniture that is made from ecological and recycled materials.
